Members of the Northumberland Farm Watch scheme were stunned when they opened the message to discover the names, dates of birth and addresses of dozens of alleged offenders. Red-faced officers sent a follow-up message two days later when the error was spotted, asking the farmers not to read the information and to delete it immediately. But one man last night told how he had already opened the attachment - and seen the names of three people he knew. The Information Commission is now investigating the lapse. Northumbria Police last night apologised for the error and revealed they had launched an internal inquiry. Data in the email also included what action the force intended to take against the suspected criminals. A farmer from the Alnwick area, who did not want to be named, said: "I got the email earlier on this week with the attachment. It was something called CDRP Level One. "It had a list of names, addresses and ages of people who have committed crimes in the area and what action is being taken against them. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I know three of the people on the list. "Then two days later I received another email from the police telling me to delete the attachment urgently and not to open it. I have deleted it now, but I had already looked at it and I know of at least another 30 farmers who have done the same." Berwick MP Sir Alan Beith said: "This is a serious breach of data protection and it is the sort of thing which undermines confidence in organisations which keep information. It can only undermine what the police do in this area." A spokeswoman for the Information Commissioners Office confirmed it would investigate. She said: "We have received an email from Northumbria Police and we will be looking into what has happened here." Northumberland area commander, Chief Supt Kevin Lambert, admitted the data had been sent in error. He said: "On Friday, November 14, a regular email bulletin was sent out to 150 recipients in Northumberland Area Command. A separate document was attached to the email in error. "This document contained personal information of 51 people, some of whom have been brought to the attention of the police service and other partner agencies. "As soon as the error was highlighted to Northumbria Police management, all necessary steps were taken to contact those individuals who had received the email, asking them to delete it immediately and not to open or read the attachment. "We sincerely apologise for this error. We believe at this stage that there is nothing that would compromise individual or public safety. Whoever is paying subs to that lot in the expectation of any real change has got a bloody screw loose. When folk stop thinking in terms of colour and start thinking in terms of culture and social pride, then you may get some place. Partys like the BNP can only further the devides in this country, which is what makes it so bloody easy for the goverment and politically correct brigade to walk all over people. Who is the infidel ? the unbelievers of the koran It does say "sooner or later any and ALL 'non-believers' will be targeted" I will post this quote from another site. it was said on a site "allah and his ground army must be wiped out each and everyone before they get too strong within our own lands gods army must come together and say the time is now and move to our gods goal and rid the earth of this so called Allah and his force of darkness before its too late we need to arm and defend our lands from Islamic terrorists fear WE MUST BECOME ONE TO WIN AND RID OUR LANDS OR ONE DAY WE WILL BE UNDER ISLAMIC RULE" So like you my friend I would like to see culture and social pride working, it might not happen when there is religions fighting against us. I am not raciest or against any culture, but reading this from the Koran / Muslim religion makes me think ( am I the Infidel ? as I I am non believer ). So Is my life now at threat ? So what do we need to do ? Talk.....hahahahaha....tell the police...hahahahahaha...maybe the only option is to join the religion that says it will kill us. Wilf, the infidel is the NON Believers in the Koran mate. The Koran is however simplified and re-interpreted by modern day followers of the Muslim religion. Not saying in any way that the Muslim religion is bad but the teachers in far away places make sure the new interpretations are followed to the full. mackem 27,358 Posted November 22, 2008 Report Share Posted November 22, 2008 Lived in islamic countries,I have some great pakistani friends,one in particular I owe a great deal to and never lost contact with,its not the individual people who are the root-problem,its the religion thats the threat.I used to know a guy,quiet as a mouse,excellent guy to chat to,very humble sort of person,he had a young family,bright future ahead of him actually,I had a good rapport with him,but I didnt realise what was ticking away inside his head,surprised a lot of people,his own family especially,but this is deviating from the path,its not about islam,its about a BNP list Quote Link to post Share on other sites
