below are 2 pictures of how i attatch my snares to hoops, using electrical tape is a pain in the arse, no good if its wet and want to renew the tape it dont stick etc. not reliable, the method my dad showed me years back lasts a life time, its fully adjustable, i use 1.5mm wire on 2.5mm HT hoop wire, hope it may help some one or if you have`t the time i let me make them for you, MORE DETAILS ETC ON MY WEB SITE http://craftpestcontrol.tripod.com/id25.html

the wire hoop snare has been around for 70 years, straightforward and simple , a length of wire bent into a U shape , pushed into the ground over a rabbit run, a snare systems beauty is its simplicity, thats how its so effective in the first place, i have personally never used electrical tape there is no need to although some lads like it , its really is a simple job to keep the snare sitting steady on a hoop, without any added garbage, such as wire turns, because the minute a rabbit or hare is caught, the wrap themselves around the two wire legs which really are a double kill pole, therefore any swivel system is immediately nullified, rendering it useless , iwas taught this system over 40 years ago by chisholm, who used it to control hare numbers, over the scottish hills. all the northern keepers used the hoop snares , to control hares this way, as its so simple to make a hoop snare for wire can be found on old fences , around farm yards , dumps etc. for absolutely free , so all you need is the hoop, made for nothing, a 30 pence snare, and your in business .

reinventing the wheel :D i use tape to hold the snare loop in strong gales iv seen them spin off the run , but as snareman has stated you do not need to use any holding device thats just my choice and was never a component of a hoop snare simplicity is the name of the game why make it complicated .

reinventing the wheel :D who has , no one is saying that are they except you, the holder acts like a swivel its not locked in place but can be if some one wishes too, some people have hassle setting the snare in place this little holder just helps out etc, and still acts the same as if it werent even their, and yes keep it simple and this is simple try it dont knock it, and every one who has used it love it

i get the feeling the only people so far who have responded to this thread are people who sell snaring products just like i do, STRANGE

go to it then a roll of tape costs ten pence and you can do over 100 snares cant get cheaper than that can you??

i dont mind in the l least that you sell snares

woodga its nothing about price, a few people have seen me use this holder gadget and have been pleased with the results when i have gave then some and it is now available for every one to see, they can make their own or if they cant be botherd then i can make it for them etc or any one else for that matter, yes electrical tape is far cheaper and quicker to apply ( in the dry )

forums are for passing on bits and bobs, as far as im concerned this is a good bits n bob

Seems more hassle than anything mavisdog, whats wrong with just using a simple hitch, you don't even need tape really as glenn says....just constructive criticism :D

some may think , like horses for causes i suppose, like marmite love it or hate it :clapper:

ITS IS A FACT HOWEVER ................. THAT A LOT OF LADS WHO KNOW SWEET F.A. ABOUT THE SNAREING GAME AND HUNTING IN GENERAL SEEM TO THINK THEY CAN COME ON THESE SITES PICK EVERYONES BRAINS FOR IDEAS AND MAKE A FAST BUCK WITH SHODDY WORKMANSHIP AND MATERIALS FROM GREENHORNS ..............

pissing me-self, ive been in this game for years ive ernt a living out of it , and no i dont do it for free, and if any one wants any samples then they can have some by all means

so if you are new to this web forum does it mean you no jack shit then ???

thats the impression this thread is giving me lolololol, the holder is good for peolpe who have probs with setting up a snare , all i can say try it dont knock it, the picture was their to show people, and yes if people cant be arsed to make them then yes i sell them, the same as many people do , ie if a want something in life and cant make it or cant be arsed to make it i get some one else to make it , i cant see a problem in that , or is it im not in the gang lololol,

funny thing is i have had many pms praising the holder, yet the people had stated in their pms they dont want to reply just to get slated as i am for showing something off that some people may find worth while if having problems with their set- up.

Well that's a real shame :( Come on guys, I don't want this section going the same way as the dog sections have.

Anyone who has a view should voice it - I can't promise people will agree with you but that shouldn't stop you. If people are using bits and pieces like this and finding them useful don't be afraid to say so.

The value of a forum like this is the range and depth of the information and experience from lifetime experts to beginners.

Personally I like the neatness of this holder but can see some potential issues with it too. Not having done much hoop snaring and never used one I'm in no position to comment though.

I have used the holder for years, havent come across any potentional issuses as of yet, and cant see why, its the same as putting a snare on a fence wire etc, but its on a hoop, does the same thing, all i can say is instead of people commenting on it or knocking it , is give it a try, then give some feed back. they are easy to make

its a shame the other people like you johnb, dont feel the same way as you do etc, thanks john

due to the condition of my hands i cannot tie knots On peg snares i secure the wire on the tealer with a yellow electrical crimp , same with fence snares, just crimp the end ,and twist it on ,now this method might not suit everyone ,but ,it has to suit me, and i have not had one fail me yet,i think the holder will be ideal for me once i find an easy way to push the hoop legs in .Rob, keeper over Folkingham way found one of those hoop snares with a pheasant in it , so it looks like i took a bollocking for a bit of your work . : :D

Any non target species etc can get snared, thats the down side of snaring its not 100% safe for non target species.

and that could happen with any type of snare or hoop etc, unless a break-away and that still can capture.

the holder is just for the wire to thread thru,so give presentation easly & correctly, the snare it-self would still need to be tied or crimped

cheers rob
