JordKil 0
Im wanting to get more involved with hunting with dogs and im wondering what is the best cross to start with (to take mainly rabbit and sometimes hare/odd fox) Im an experienced dog handler but not so much in this neck of the woods. I already have a collie cross springer and hes a good scent dog for anything but not so great at the chase (nose down sniffing more than looking) I would most likely look into getting a pup/young dog to get it used to my colliex. Any advice would be helpful Thanks Jordan Quote Link to post
Lennard 10
I am not sure. Think about what type of terrain you have and how much you will you do. Small fields are better for smaller lighter dogs that can turn in time. Bigger game needs bigger dogs. If you are used to colli a colli lurcher might do really well in your hands? Then somekind of 3/4houndxcolli would be perfect. Terriers and salukis can be bugging. Quote Link to post

heart of wales 19
Working Dam x Working Sire most important being able to see both and Bedlington x Whippet or Greyhound depending on your terrain Quote Link to post
JordKil 0
I was looking at some sort of collie cross grey as iv been around collies all my life. The terrian is mainly grass and general soft ground with some small areas of cover where i go ferreting.I am more so looking at a rabbiting dog and the odd hare wouldnt hurt not really anything big come to think of it. A fast nippy clever dog would do. Edited November 19, 2008 by JordKil Quote Link to post
