try this(you need small bones for this, or cut up)

get two identical bowls

let the dog see one, then put the bone where the dog can see it, then place it in the bowl, put the empty bowl quickly on the floor and the dog will rush in, see nothing

then place the bone bit in the bowl, let him eat it

then place some more in

then some more

do this a few times, then get your kids to do it a few times while you watch

dog will soon learn that kids near the food means he gets more

should help anyway

My grumpy russel had his balls off, (not because of his attitude, but because he had a defect that I did not want to pass down the line if he mated) did not make a blind bit if difference, if anything he got worse.

All the best,

JOEB

Dazzy, JOEB is right, balls off won't make any difference. The problem is the pup's mentality, and you and your family's behaviour towards him. He has to know that he is at the bottom of the pecking order or he will assume he is dominant over everyone. Get your lad to take over feeding fore a week or so. Make the pup know he's waiting for his grub (stand with the bowl for a minute). If he growls or barks, get your lad to put the bowl out of reach and walk away. Repeat this until the pup is patiently waiting for his food without a sound. He'll do it, just be patient. This is your lad letting the pup know he is boss and that's what you all need to do. Bet he gets up on the furniture and growls when anyone (apart from you) comes near. Get the wee fecker down and keep him down until he knows better. Treat him like a dog, not a human and you might not end up with a visit to the vets or worse.
