zap 4
i agree wit you but the same dog is placid out wit other dogs when out for a dig i dont know wat went wrong my lurcher bitch is as quiet a dog as i have saw never a growl when meeting new dogs or out in the field but when it comes to her kennel different bitch altogether no other dog is allowed in Quote Link to post
Guest proudy
Accidents happen & I wouldn't get rid of a good dog because of what happened. I'd think of securing the kennels to make sure it can never happen again. Quote Link to post
Tiny 7 1,694
sorry for yer loss mate, everyones saying shoot the dog but it sounds like it was just defending its self I agree with this it was the other dog that tore through everything to get to the dog and if it never defended itself then that one would of been dead by the sound of it.... imoa... Atb T 7 Edited to say I know someone from Thurnscoe (Yorkshire).. that happened to him with his two terrier's one of them eat through the wall to get to the other one and a it just got its head through the other one was just sitting there wait and killed it as it put its head through... So it doe's happen mate... Sorry to hear that... T 7 Edited November 19, 2008 by tiny 7 Quote Link to post
Kye 77
Its a shame, but it can happen...i think most of us have had it happen. So the dog broke into the other dogs kennel, and the dog whose kennel got invaded, killed the intruder?...is that right?...imo, if thats the case, i think culling the dog for it is a little harsh to be honest!... Guys, its nothing personal when dogs fight!...they are ANIMALS!...you can have two pups outta the same litter, play, be best friends, work togther etc...if they have a fight (not a squabble!) a proper fight, and one dies, then thats it...the other dog didnt plan it all out!..lol...they re-act to certain things. I have dogs on my place, that would fight other dogs on my place...they are kenneld alone, and worked alone (the terriers anyway) or with dogs i can trust them with...i dont hunt them with other peoples dogs, other than my hunting partners, and he has worked my dogs as much as me!..lol. Good kennels, good stockmanship, and an attentive eye is the key to good kennel management...im not saying that was the downfall of the poor terrier in this case,...it can/will happen sometimes...but if the dog could reach the other dog, which it did, its just unfortunante. We have had kennel fights caused buy different things...in Vegas, we had Doves that would land on the wall surrounding our property, and the dogs would jump and try and get them...after a while, a few terriers would get in a frezy, and bump each other, and all hell would break loose!..lol. Shit happens, but if it was my dog, i would worry about the kennel arrangments, before planning the dogs funeral!...JMO!. Kye,.. Quote Link to post
dogman89 0
shoot the bastered mate if it can do it to another dog a baby wont be hard work for it at all! theres a big difference between a dog and a baby. my old dog would go for any dog, but i could leave it with any child and guarntee it wouldnt touch not Quote Link to post

kristian 9
sorry to hear that mate! shoot the bastered mate if it can do it to another dog a baby wont be hard work for it at all! sorry but this is bollox! No dog should be left alone with a child but attacking another dog and attacking a baby is totally different!!!!! my view would be just secure the kennel whats the point in shooting it and losing 2 dogs? dogman89 0
what would you do if someone broke into your house and private space??? yoou wouldnt welcome them with open arms anyway Quote Link to post
bigbird 7
you are asleep in your house some stroppy little chav breaks in and starts having ago at you, you defend yourself, things get out of hand. chav ends up in hospital or dead. you get put to sleep for defending yourself and your home. that seems fair! be sensible about this, these are dogs who react and don't reason. make the runs more secure and learn from the incident, it's sad but it happens.
