mackem 26,949
The Tyne always outclassed the Wear for salmon, the Wear was a superior sea-trout river, the best season I had was well over 1000 fish from the two rivers, biggest was 28lb. Quote Link to post

Guest MY LAW
if you mean rod and line then i have only ever had 1. 7lb in weight .but if you mean any means then im up their with mac , bigest 32lb . numbers in one night 122 ,in one month over 1000 and in the 17 years i done it for i would not like to imagine ,go on call me over ,but i know and so does the lads with me and most of all so does the byers and bailifs that was around when i was doing it ,it was a long time ago ,dont think we will ever see this sort of numbers ever again .o and it was of one of the best salmon rivers in the country .where 50+ fish in a night in nets was average . mackem 26,949
Yup,all a long time ago,I think I was about 13 when I started,1000 fish in a month is awesome,,y best year ever was when I was about 15 years old,I left the area a few years later, never once used lime,no need, theres actually a documented case somewhere online,I found it earlier this year somewhere of two guys working the Wear who took over 500 fish in 2 nights Hardest part of that isnt the catching, its the carrying Quote Link to post
