donk 12
the dogs just not wanting to do it yet, some young uns go for it others dont. Nearly 7 months old? I made that mistake with me bitch and she ended up a yapper,my fault not hers. I know its tempting to get a dog up and started catching stuff, but patience pays dividends in the long run mate. If the dog was keen to go then i would let it,if its not, just hold it back til it is. Before you know it it will mature and understand whats required of it,unless its a wrong un? It's all too easy to dismiss a young dog as no good and pass it on,build up a bond and a good relationship with a dog and it will run its heart out for you and fill the game bag night after night. Good luck with it mate. Edited November 16, 2008 by donk Quote Link to post
Guest MY LAW
7mths is to young kid... if you run them from a young age they ar bound to miss a few.. and tend to want to bark at the ones they cant catch when they get on a bit... a a barking lurchers as much use as a choclate fire gaurd.....i know of a choclate fire guard that earns its owner a couple of hundred pound most weeks in the winter .and has done this for the last 5 years.i would have it of him strait away but i know he wont part with it . runforyourlife 361
The dog is a young kid! The dog might not be any good all its life at lamping, and trying to force it down the beam will seal its feight... How come you have to ask this question, you look to have some lovely dogs there in the pic... Should you not have known the answer your self?? My law, has a point also, so ask your mate, what he's been doing to it. If the answer is nothing, just leave the pup alone.... Quote Link to post
lamping-lad 160
LET IT WATCH ANOTHER DOG ON THE LAMP THEN WHEN ITS OLDER TRY HIM AGAIN. Quote Link to post
Guest MY LAW
He is chasing fine through the day, just not when lamping, so doesnt sound like he is afriad to chase through reprimand does it?Sounds more like the fact he is FAR TOO YOUNG, he only 24-27 WEEKS old...a bloody puppy ffs so the dog thinks it is old enough to run when it is day time but not in the dark .[like a teenager on a housing estate but the other way around ] Quote Link to post
Guest MY LAW
Stop splitting hair now ML that was not what i said!come on ,if the dog is chasing in the day there is nothing stoping him chasing at night ,other than it has had scolding [ie beating ]for chasing some thing that it should not have at night and it now associates it with the lamp ,or it just dont have it in him ,what other reason could there be , Quote Link to post
Guest MY LAW
but any dog worth its salt dont say no if the opertunity arises. Quote Link to post
