First time fly fishing

Recommended Posts

My mate is taking me fly fishing tomorrow for the first time. He gave me a couple of hours lesson today and i was surprised to find the casting quite easy. Sure it will be a different ball game when i try it for real though.

i will be fishing a stocked fishery in sussex so im sure the fish will be there the only question will be whether i can catch one. Does anyone have any useful advice?

Pick some flies up of mackem, I believe he ties his own ;) .

If you havent the time then vary your depth and retreve and move to find the fish, when you do try to remember what you were doing when you hooked it. Fish are actively looking for food this time of year, they are on the move and they fight hard, great on a fly rod.

And if your casting starts to mess up take a 5-10 minute break and start again, good luck and let us know how you got on.
