labsnlurchers 39
If its a pup that you want to trust you and work well for you then dont kick it or hit it with a shoe???? Discipline is for naughty dogs and if it is young then its not being naughty its just stressed at the situation and probably wondering what the hell is going on. If its a young pup then its just missing its litter pals and needs to get used to the change. A few suggestions; Put a jumper or coat that has been worn by the pups favourite person in its bed. Radio on Tire the pup out before leaving it, play/walk before you go out. Dont pay attetion, EVEN NEGATIVE ATTENTION. Make sure it has stuff to stimulate its mind in the kennel, plenty of chew toys etc

Malt 379
I think it was meant tongue in cheek LnL, but there's nothing wrong with giving your dog a clout if it needs it. I'm not saying that you should belt the living shite out of it for every little thing, but a trained dog needs to have a healthy respect for it's master.

I agree but discipline comes when the dog is naughty, this is a pup of unknown age that sounds like its getting stressed at being alone, thats not bad behaviour, thats natural behaviour. shamo28 1
i had a saluki greyhound dog that was given to me cos it barked and yapped all day long. They had had neighbour complaints and environmental health had been on to them. Every time it barked they went out to it. I totally ignored it for 3 days and it just tired of it in the end but i appreciate not everyone can stick a dog yapping
