JordKil 0
Iv been working on a ferret box meade from MDF but its shite as is the wood. What is the best type of wood to use (not expensive) and what dimensions would be ok for up to 2 hobs or 4 small jills/1 hob 2 jills etc. And what is the best combination to put in ta box e.g 2 hobs and 2 jills etc? (i have 2 hobs n 4 jills by the way) Also what sites sell good quality boxes (if all else fails) Thanks Jordan Quote Link to post
4x4dartmoor 2
Get some marine ply, As that will last you a life time so it work out cheap in the long run. Hope that helps. Quote Link to post
thehunter69 1
use 10mm and 6mm marine ply mdf is good stuff to use around the house but NOT as a ferret box when its wet it will just turn to mush ie like wet cardboard ( i am a joiner ) so i no what i am talking about....well done for trying though it might be just as cheep to buy one if you think you need ply, glue, nails, screws, hinges, catch and a strap and wood stain but dont let me put you off.. Coatesy900 0
9mm or 12mm exterior plywood is really suitable. Already weather proof, and strong but easy to work. Should do the job fine Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
I made my last box from 12mm plywood, dimentions are 18inches x 10inches x 10inches sloping to 8inches at the front, works for me, the ferret on the left is a hob. Quote Link to post
