lgray88 4
wooden stock or plastic, you might get away with useing thinners on a plastic stock not sure about wood as the varnish may react with the thinners Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
White Spirit..but always try a small area FIRST! Quote Link to post
lgray88 4
yeh white spirit would work well, wd 40 might require a little more elbow grease, none of theses should affect your metal work i have notices on blued rifles if wd 40 goes near external metal parts such as the barrel its drys them out and they seem to take on rust quicker than usual its maybe jsut somthing i see but i now wipemy rifles down with a rag wth 3in1 seems to keep away rust and a bottle is cheap lasts for a good time , Quote Link to post

clivej 0
Anybody got any tips on how to remove that sticky stuff left on rifle after removing cammo tape. Try WD 40 to soften it up a LOT and if needed use a green pad BUT A NON SCRATCH one Quote Link to post
Nutmeg 0
For the metal parts I've used acetone (from the chemists) with great success on other metal items, or you could use nail varnish remover if you have access to any as it's virtually the same stuff. As a previous post says though, try it on a small area first just in case it affects the bluing. Quote Link to post
doddsy1970 9
I had this problem with a shotgun i brought last year, I tried acetone, petrol and meths but all they seemed to do was push the goo around the gun. When i was out shopping with the good lady wife, i spotted some stuff called Sticky stuff remover. Did exactly what it said on the tin. Quote Link to post
