laurona12 14
Hi I am relatively new to deerstalking and a few questions - if you can help ? I have just had a T8 fitted to my rifle - is a neoprene cover the 'norm' or do you recommend getting one ? Is a scope cover a bit of a gimmick ? Or does the need for one increase with the value of your scope ? I am also after some bipods (Harris) - there seems to be a few models out there - which are best. For me lightness and the ability to swivel is most important. Where is the best place to buy ? Many Thanks Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
Hi mate, The T8's tend to 'sing' a little after the shot. Not really a problem but a neoprene sleve will cut this and also help with the noise dampening a little. As for scope covers, i've just got the standard plastic ones for protection but intend to replace these with some flip up Butler Creeks shortly. Butler creek also make a good neoprene scope cover that will protece the scope against accidental knocks. All up to personal preferance but prevention is better than cure. I've got a quick detatch bipod on my 6.5 (not a harris), the weight of the whole set up with the bipod on would make it a little too cumbersome and over balanced and i figure i can always put it on should a prone shot present itself. I hasten to add that i'm new to stalking as well but there are some knowledgeable veterans on here Quote Link to post
dwighet 1
Also a neoprene mod cover will stop the ping when stalking through woods and a branch hits your mod..Theres nothing worse than trying to be as quiet as you can the a branch hits your t8 and sends out a loud ping... Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Dito that last comment mate. The scope cover is a bit over the top IMO but down to personal choice i guess .The harris 11inch to 25 is my choice as it covers all shots from prone to kneeling . Good luck with your sport mate . Quote Link to post

Do I need to buy any fittings/adaptors so it will fit on my rifle ? Cheers Quote Link to post
