SportingShooter 0
Very Simple terms really. Can't use any gun for the shooting of Wildfowl which has over three shots. If you want a shotgun on your SGC you go and buy it. You cant just ask for an FAC Shotgun either, you will need to justify why. Some have them for Rabbits, few have them for Pigeons, it all needs to be justified, just like your HMR will need to be justified for Vermin. SS
sauer 2
as said already 3-shot...... anymore is a fac job and for vermin only !! now if you have a gac semi auto and say go to the ducks with it even tho you only shove 3 into it....if local plod who knows his way round guns appears and check you out you could end up losing your certificates and weapons for misusing your weapons against what they are stated for on your certificates. i know of someone this happened to ....it aint worth the risk as someone else said 3-shot ....more sporting rather than a slaughter anyway sauer

You shoot what it says on your FAC with FAC rated guns
tom1cameron 1
All above is correct. You cant have a gun capable of more than two cartridges in the magzine for wildfowling. So for a SA that means a 3 shot max. What I dont know is. If you owned two tubes for your gun, and you knew how to switch them, then you could own a 5 shot on a FAC and switch it to a 3 shot crimped tube for fowling???????? I suspect that it is not possible. On my gun the tube is crimped before it leaves the factory and it appears to be moulded in.
SportingShooter 0
If you have a Shotgun listed on your FAC it can only be used to Shoot what your FAC states. Even if you did change the tube to a 3 shot capacity, it would still fall foul of the law as it is on your FAC. In effect a Section 2 Shotgun (SGC) can be used to shoot all legal quarry. A Section 1 Shotgun (FAC) can only be used to shoot what is stated. For example. If you had a condition for Solid Slugs on your FAC, you can only fire them through Shotguns listed on your FAC. You couldn't fire them through a shotgun on your SGC, even though you are legally allowed to have them. Ah the joys of Firearms Law! SS
