pigeon dave 1
I have a small pond which has provided me and a mate good duck shooting for the last 3 years average bag of 5 mallard occasional teal & widgeon per flight best was 13 shot every 10-14 days. but this year nothing seems to be coming to it apart from 2-15 canada geese these geese are taking the corn left for the duck they have come the previous years but have never being a problem as i would scare or shoot them off before feeding in the morning and they would not return for a week or so and i could keep them away (most of time) now will these geese come on an evening like the duck do and provide a bit of sport or do they only use small ponds through the day and any advice of how i might be able to get mallard coming again would be appreciated
mubz2cool 4
hi mate. to be honist you realy cant predict what the canadas will do! I have land next to a reservoir which holds some 200 canada geese. Normaly you can get a good mornings flight when they are taking off but the other day when we went down we didnt even see 1! as for the ducks all i would say is keep feeding it and you will attract the canadas and eventually the ducks too.
