Ruger 77/22 barrel removal

Recommended Posts

Hi cyclonebri1

When I had my 10/22 I frequently striped the gun down mainly to stop the usual problems, and from time to time I used to remove the barrel.

I have a copy of "The Ultimate Ruger 10/22" Manual and user guide. By Mark White,

It does suggest you don’t remove the barrel but I have and had no trouble replacing it time after time. It is a book all 10/22 owners should have. Detailed strip down and re build instructions especially for MUPPETS LIKE ME. :D .

But if you are on the cautious side then I would suggest you take it to your local gunsmith

77/22 and 10/22 very different beasts, doubt it's hard though. Ruger.com will have the manual.

Yeah, it is the 77/22, but already tried the site and infact still have the paper manual from one I owned 10 years ago. Doesn't detail barrel removal. It's a new gun so will get gunny to take it out while I'm watching ;)

Picked up the gun yesterday, it's the laminated stock/matt gloss grey stainless model, 24" barrel, what a beaut  So much nicer than the brushed stainless version

Just checked the manual and it does detail barrel removal, but the guy that is doing it says iy won't be neccessary in order to thread it :clapper:

Thanks guys

The RFD will just take the whole barrel and action out the stock to thread it mate. Make sure you check the integrety of the bedding when you pick the rifle back up, just had a right comedy with a rifle i just had threaded

Hi mate, can you just help a little here by defining the diffrence between a floating barrel and bedding?

Just seems to be 2 separate views on accuracy, not trying to be smart, just don't quite understand yeah

PS, have taken the barrel out just now, piece of p***s :clapper:
