lamping 1st time?

im going lamping for the first time on wednesday. its with a friend he has the lamp but any tips on how close you can get. how to gauge the distance of the rabbit. and general info on rabbit lamping would be greatly appreciated.

well the distance you can get all depends on what you are shooting a decent pcp or old springer. with a pcp you will need to be within at least 30-40 yds. lamp on aim shoot dont mess about the longer it takes you to take aim the more likely he is to do a runner especially if the land is lamped often.. hop this helps

You will know if the rabbits sitting happy and you can move in a bit or if its showing it's restless and getting ready to bolt and your going to have to take a shot or let it go because its out of range

cheers guys it turned out ok we ended up driving my friends private mile and hung out the doors in the end we got one rabbit and a stupid hare that was trundling along the road. good shoot though and a completly different way of shooting. if you can try it.

I was going to say, make sure you have a pellet loaded ;)

My mate took 3 attempts (cocked? safety on? safety off? etc) before he realised he hadn't loaded his ranger this morning :D

 

By the time he realised the rabbit had wandered off :D
