T78 4
was stopped today on permission by a copper who saw us from the road. when stopped,he asked us what we were doing and we said a bit of rabbiting(we had 3 dogs with us)he asked us if we knew the hunting act as it stated it was illegal to hunt ALL mammals with dogs.... took our names and address's etc and then asked what breed the dogs were. i said saluki, grey and two collie greys.(all dogs were 1/4 bull and i think he knew that and was hoping we'd admit it!)he then asked how my dog had got the fresh'ish scars on his face so i replied that he'd run into a fence a wk before.... his parting shot was that if he had seen us slip the dogs or the dogs were off the slips he would take our van and all our dogs off us.also said he would if he caught us again.it was definately permission(just confussion ovcer who had given us it) what in want to know is did he have the right to take the dogs under these circumstances?also what would you have to be doing for them to legally take dogs from you? we rang the keeper who had given us the permission and he knew the copper and said he was a known ar*ehole and that he'd do us under the badger act guven half a chance!!(we were no where near any badgers or earths!) Guest lurcherboy2008
im no expert but i think they can only take dogs off you if your not on permission, OR if your hunting a illegal animal with dogs such as a BADGER,DEER,HARE OR FOX (actually iv never thought of this but the law is your not allowed to hunt a fox with more than 2 dogs? what if you was out on permission and your lurcher hunted a fox and killed it thats not illegal is it? but if there were 3 there it would be? im sure im right but correct me if im wrong please? also tell that copper hes a arsewank

SNAP SHOT 194
did he enter onto the land if so trespassing he may be, as he did not have permission to enter onto the lands, just a thought as i don't know your laws. but if everything is above board with you guys then he would have a hard time taking the dogs from you i would think. SportingShooter 0
If you were Trespassing (You said you werent ) then he could. But even if he has a suspicion, he wont be reprimanded for taking the dogs and the van from you. The view seems to be "Better safe than sorry". So I wouldn't be surprised if you got them all taken off you if the copper is as suspicious about everyone as he seems to be. Only person who will lose out is you without your dogs for however long. He will be quite happy in his Police station SS

He will be quite happy in his Police station SS it was the gamekeeper who had given the permission(with landowners consent)only problem was we only knew the keepers name, not the landowners! so the copper thought we didn't have correct permission. but to let us go on the understanding that if the dogs had been off the leads he would have taken them?seems a bit daft that you can "trespass" with a dog on a slip lead and keep your dog but if its off the lead,it can be taken!?
