Marty O Hare 3
Would prefere mine not to jump a fence when out lamping and chasing a rabbit, lots of cliff edges and nasty land owners on the other side of the fence on some parts I go. Want the dog to jump a fence or gate when asked tho. Depends on the land you go I suppose on this one. Quote Link to post
LDR 29
Everyone seems to have their own veiws on a good lamp dog. Whats one mans meat, is anothers poison. Most of what Long Dog Runner has said does me, but, personally, i donrt mind a hard mouth or a dog thats not a 100% retriever, as long as it gets most of the bunnys. Frank. I dont mind a hard mouth as long as they aint munching on it to kill it, the dog i lost this year was hard mouthed, but he did very little damage to the meat, but a retrieve for me is a must, couldn't think of anything worse than having to walk across a great big field for a rabbit!!!!!
