Zero range .22lr

Hello im just wondering what distance i should zero my scope in i was thinking about 75 yards i am using subsonic .22 ammo for lamping rabbits. Any info about the character of this round would be great because im used to using a 22.250 for foxing. What is the .22 round like at a 100yards? Thanks

i would zero with subs at 60 yards. 75 yards seams abit far really as not all the rabbits will be that range most hand around 50 or 60 yards. and if there under that then the zero at 50 or 60 wont be that bad. but a zero at 75 shooting at 30 to 40 will be abit much

The Drop at 100 will depend on your zero range. Using Federal 31 grain Copper Plated Hollow Points zeroed at 50yds with a scope height of 1.5" the drop will be over 4.5". Check out an online ballistic calculaor to confirm.

set a target up at 50 then 60 then 70 and so on. then see how any clicks up on the scope you need over the different ranges.

 

its allways nice to no so when your out around spots you no the range of you can adjust quickly

I am always surprised when people come on and say I have an X Y or X and ask what range should I zero at!!

 

The answer is simple...the range you are likely to see the majority of your quarry at!!!

 

As it happens "most" people will zero a .22LR with subs between around 50-60 yards..but so what...a .22LR sub is likely to deliver around 70-75ft lb at 100 yards....WAY more than you need to stop a rabbit...so zero at 100 yards if you like, but if they are all closer then zero at 20 yards!!!

Yes mate i will work out the distances they are roughly 60 to 70 yards so that is what i will zer oat cheers

i zero'd at 65 paces , then set up targets at 25/100 and work it out with your mil-dots .

Dont know what he was actualy doing was he compensating or just putting the crosshair on the centre line at each range to show the drop or lift.
