dai dogs 1,640 Posted November 9, 2008 Report Share Posted November 9, 2008 bought 2 series ones from a old gentleman (farmer), anyone know how to i.d them of the age. i dont think the chassis numbers would be visable as they been standing for about 40 years. the paper work as long been lost. was going to scrap them. Jim Grant 4 Posted November 10, 2008 Report Share Posted November 10, 2008 There should be a plate rivetted to the dash/bulkhead. That will give you all the info you need. The engine No is stamped on the front left-side of the Engine block. The transmission No is stamped on the right rear side of the gearbox. Do not scrap them (big money involved). There are still old Landies turning up as "barn finds", and if these you have are at least complete, then someone will want them. If you don't want to restore them yourself, advertise in Land Rover Owner or similar magazines.
