Gents,

The vet thinks it's posion, it was touch and go last night, drip, injections, and loads of other bits and bobs. The old boy went into a type of coma and I have just returned from the vets. It's still touch and go, the vets worried about kidney & liver problems. Off down the stables to check, although I KNOW that I have no chemicals down the yard.

F**CKING night mare, the old boy is 11 and the gov'ner within my terriers.

HAVE A LOOK ROUND FOR WATER THATS BEEN LYING FOR A WHILE, THIS COULD HAVE THE SAME EFECT ON THE DOG

IF ITS IN OLD RUSTY BUCKETS OR TIN BATHS ETC. SMELL IT TO SEE IF ITS STAGNANT OR LOOKS A BLUEY WHITE COLOUR(toxic) THEN GET IT TIPPED OUT!!! ;)

i had a boder terrier x patterdale who had eatten 40 ibuprofen tablets when we were out on the tiles one night ,he got them out of the misses bag and chewed the bottle up to get them out ,when we found him at 1.30 in the morning he was gone of his feet and was going fast could not stand up going floppy and eyes going into a stair ,he had been sick so we found piles of sick with pink stuff in the sick and the bottle .vet told us over the over the phone he thought the dog would not live even if he pulled through ,down to his liver ect packing up ..we were gutted to hear this ,but never gave up ,we rushed down the vets as fast as we could and he was give a heat pad and drip ect , the vet said if the dog pulled through and he was in any pain later he would put him down ,next day we were on the phone ,vet said can you hear that dog barking in the back ground ,yep i said, thats your dog :D but its still too early as his liver and other organs could pack up at any time ..two days we waited for checks on his liver ect and the dog was ok ..he has gone down in the vets book so other vets could look at it as it was a very rare case of a dog liveing after eatting so many tablets and liveing, that was 7 1/2 yrs ago, got to say he was the worst digging dog one could wish for ,but tracking ,ratting ,and marking and just being by my side he was one of the best mates i could of wished for, sadley he is now gone..so dont give up on your dog if it is pioson ,toxins ect and hope it pulled through ok ...for rat pioson vit k will bring them out of it ..

My JRT is still very ill, got him home but he want move or eat. Called the vets and told them, they said bring him back. Took him back and they have put him back on a drip.

Still has rapid eye movement and looks like he's pissed. If it was posion would the condition either improve or get worse. ? My gut instint is that he's had a stroke or something.

Either way, I'm into the vet so far for £178. !

I doubt its rat poison mate nearly all commercial stuff has bitrex init, Tastes terrible ( dont affect rats)

And a dog needs to eat about 10% of its body weight to give it a lethal dose so around 1 to 2 Kgs of bait.

so prbably not poison unless some clown is baiting with something really dodgy.
