Rabbithunter 456
een in the countrymans this week an article about snaring by the warrener. Whats this crack about him having his snare height, the breadth of his fist. It sounds like he is laying his snares on the actual rabbit run, and not the beat's. Has anybody ever tried it this way? Guest sushie
I seen that article aswell mate, an old bloke told me years ago to set wires 4 fingers high but Peg and gun will be the man to ask about snaring! Quote Link to post

Rabbithunter 456
Yeah i know about snaring 'beats' but not very good at it. Just thought warrners way of doing it was a bit 'old school' and maybe impracticable? Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,631
i think your getting the wrong end of stick [bANNED TEXT] , he means setting them the hight of your fist. the bit that got me is where he said his [bANNED TEXT] had whatched a film about snaring( maybee woodga's) and said how the guy went back to his method. i think that was a dig at woodgs film . what do you think Woodga? robsharpe 1
tomo i can nearly guarantee woodga will never go back to this way ,yes people will catch rabbits at that height some do ,but a lot more will be missed ,woodga taught me and am gratefull for being shown the correct method for accounting for a lot of rabbits ,again there is a lot of myths surrounding snaring height placement etc , but catches speak for them selves ,theres only one thing i have to say on the warreners way well two then " bullseye" and great peice of kit from deben  somepeople will understand  Quote Link to post
burnie69 376
Personally,..I feel that 'auld Pat' has maybe had his day.... He has earned a fair bit of vonger from his shooting vids,..and good luck to him... I remember him phoning me in the 1980's,.night after night, for SmithField types,... Glenn Waters changed the face of snaring and trapping techniques in the UK,.. In my opinion,..The Warrener is not in his league,... Hopefully,..the 21st Century, trapping and wiring enthusiasts,.such as Woodga and PegandGun will continue to help and instruct us all in their favourite subjects. The sad thing is that MANY of today's fieldsports writers in the various sporting magazines have conveniently forgotten their early days,..and just WHO first told them about the things that they now pontificate about...I've suffered from this annoying plagiarism myself and read about stories, and theories that I have personally experienced at first hand,...but that's life I suppose... However,.as I always say,.'Them as knows,.knows,..Them as don't know,.don't fecking matter' All the best to all genuine hunting men,...kind regards,..ONLYTHECONY.......... Very wise and true words Quote Link to post

pegandgun 52
You know what i think about him Moley, but its hard to take it away from him.He got of his arse and does it and he does deserve some respect for that As already said,he is too numb with those hands to be good at any kind of trapping never mind with the wires Quote Link to post
