The cabinet has to be on a brick built wall in your house you wont be allowed to keep it in the garage also it would be and idea to have the cabinet atleast 10 inches off the ground and tell your dad to stop being negative and put your foot down son. SportingShooter 0
A Cabinet does not have to be in the house, it can in some circumstances be in the garage. The garage must be connected to the house, if you are to stand a chance of it being passed. Your best bet is realistically to have the cabinet mounted in the house, on a brick or masonry wall, and out of view of casual visitors. In general this means that it is kept away from casual callers, salesmen etc. Some put them upstairs, others downstairs, some keep them inside a wardrobe, others on a plain wall. It depends on the individual and the premises. I would mount a cabinet with the bottom flat on the floor personally to reduce the strain on the bolts through the back, though of course there is no requirement to do so. As for a baby in the house, ONLY the person which holds the Shotgun Certificate for the Guns inside of the cabinet can have any access whatsoever. So I really can't see the difference it makes.
