chanuk. ive looked into these alaunts alot and there awesome dogs and just wanted to find out your opinion. do you think that the cross could be improved if the american bulldog was used instead of the bullmastiff? surley it would still take the big head and the guarding instinct like that of the bullmastiff has but would have added working ability because the am bullbog is a proven catch dog in the states and in australia. american bulldogs also suffer from less hereditary conditions than the bullmastiff. the only draw back i could see is that of the limited gene pool in the american bulldogs in the uk. your boy is a cracking dog tho and i hope he does well for you. :good:

I personaly would have used the AB from working Hines lines.

I agree that the AB would have more to bring to the table.

Lets see what happens in the future ;)

Thanks for your kind words best wishes G.

is it easy to get hold of the alaunts? i love the bully dogs especialy the old types like the alaunts and the old type bull terriers im interested in the running mastiffs aswel like the cane corso's etc. do you find that your alaunt is quite protective a good guard dog aswel as a usefull worker thats was the intended purpose of the type. ive got a bullmastiff x greyhound and he fits the bill. cheers
