my opinion is that the owners make the dog what it will be , so if you have not got a clue then the dog does not stand a chance i have only had 2 failers in 34 years and most of my dogs go out as soon as they have been jabd ,and they keep going untill they are around 8 to 10 years old ,and i only try to keep 1 dog at a time .but i have in the past had up to 4 dogs at once .

Never had a dog that didn't make the grade, maybe luck but more down to careful entering, even had a bitch that made the grade but was highly strung and I couldn't live with the dog, entered her but passed her onto dog heaven aged 3 1/2, was catching 20 plus on lamp and doing well in obedience comp, but sadly not my type .

had one lurcher and 2 maybe 3 terriers that didnt make the grade .Two of those terriers i bought off the same lad and iys my own fault he was a peddlar and i was only starting out.The lurcher is a top class bunnie dog but i anted him for foxes so each to their on i suppose

if somebody has never had failures it's more than likely that they have lower standards than others, some people expect a lot more from a dog than others, and one mans "world beater" can just as easily be another mans "rubbing rag".... :D

imo it's down to the individual and what he/she expects from there dog, and no matter how carefull you enter them or how well bred they are there will always be failures, because theres duds in every litter.... ;)

30% but i take alot of unwanted dogs and see if they'll come good, if your only going to keep one dog at a time it's less likly you wont like then because you have nothing to compare them to, the more dogs you go through the more that wont be good enough

I have had a few lurchers and brought them on as pups, some would be good on one thing but not on others . Were i am theres not a lot of rabbits so i want one that will do anything you come a cross. I've being hunting lurchers since im 12 and im now 26 and only in the last few years i have got what im looking for in a lurcher. She not out standing at one thing but she will give her all for me.

I think lucky summed it up, but there are things sometimes out of our control like a young pup entering on a fox just exercising the dogs etc it can cause a pup to jib and threfore not making the grade of a foxing lurcher pre ban,but cases like that are in the minority. there are some idiots breeding nervous or unsuitable dogs that which doesn't help if you've bought one and was unaware of it until the parents traits come through after a while!
