well tonight myself and my wheatenx jack headed out for a lamp on some land about 3 miles away.we got of to a great start bagging 10 rabbits out of 10 runs :gunsmilie: then we took a small break.we started back after about 20 minutes so on to rabbit number 11 found him sitting well out anyway sliped jack he ran up the beam and took the rabbit out of its seat.jack retreaves the rabbit and dropped it at my feet then he started to walk away so i called him when i did he started running dog disappeared couldnt find him spent about 2 1/2 hours looking for him no sign :thumbdown::thumbdown: so i said id leave it till the morning to have a second look for him so i started walking the 3 miles or so home it took bloody ages couldnt stop thinking about jack never felt so sick in my life so i was coming to my house when i see a lump of hair sitting ouside the door as if nothing happened i could have killed him :censored: but i was happy to see him little fecker ran in the 3 miles through the fields to my house :icon_eek::icon_eek: i was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them before

had both mine do it one when she was a pup and got chased by 2 bigger dogs spent an hour looking for her then got call off mrs to say she sitting by door at home.

then other i only had 4 days and was walking the pair when both went off after a rabbit one came straight back but 30 mins later got call off brotheri n law to say he also sat by door at home ...

i hope so too but i recon it was my fault when i checked him in the morning his back was tied up didnt show any sign of it last night but gave him a twist which sorted that problem out now hes bouncing around like a pup but he will be off for the next two weeks just road walking let him freshen up hes had a lot of work in the last few weeks

Could have got a bolt of a fence who knows... iv seen it happen before where they get a bolt and take off to where they started from usually the trailor/car but in your own case the house...

nope no fence dog was tied up and he didnt want to run i found out why that morning

my mistake lad never read that post... thats common on alot of running dogs still for him to bag 11 .. he be doing double that when hes well loosened up..

dogs fine i gave him a twist which loosens any tightness in the back muscles or bones i gave him a full check over and thats all i found

 

 

Good stuff so lad... Id say you know P o hare in dungarvan if your into the hounds... any chance you know stephen o brien from there aswell?
