Mr_Logic 5
I took delivery of a lowly 8x56 Hungarian Schmidt today, slapped it on my 223 and took it out into streetlight to compare with the MTC, Hawke and Falcon scopes I've been using before and have previously considered pretty good. I was amazed at the difference! Not too bad in daylight, but at night it's enormous. Can't wait to get it out shooting, but just looking out and about, I could see dark roofs, behind shining streetlamps, things I can't see with the naked eye at all. The best of my others, the Hawke, could just about make out the roof in question. Looking through the Schmidt, had there theoretically been a pigeon there, I could have knocked him off. Gobsmacked! Mr_Logic 5
Yes, that was my thought as I stepped back inside! Just another 5 to go... Only I will need some of their finer rets on some of the scopes, and more power, so about £6,000 worth. EEEEEK! Damn fine kit though. Quote Link to post

Mr_Logic 5
It's the #8, plain crosshair. Love it or a German #4 under the lamp, the heavy posts bring my eye quickly and easily to the centre. The sight picture at night on this thing amazes me; in the daylight I thought it good but not worth the cash. Assuming it's great with the lamp, no major white-out, then my goodness me...!
