generally i dont bother to get involved in plummer threads its too much hassle......but i think this makes a fair point.

Here is a dog from her last litter we kept

dont no why people have so much against the plummer terrier ,and surly credit must be given to people trying to keep the dog going ,as long as they are honest about it ,which im sure keeps and 10/22 are ,as there are 1 or 2 of there pups that are coming on good on these forums . after all if the dog in the pic was black most would say nice size terrier with a good head on it ,and to me looks up to most jobs .......jmo good luck with them anyway

that second pic is a belter david bailey must have took it ;) ;) didnt realise it was all over the web :o

Pretty quick to stick the knife in bazza and keeps who took 7 terriers digging (that would have taken some explaining - what people will do to gain acceptance eh), still nice to confirm our fears, good on you , so much for unity -not! . Still thanks for bringing it to my attention .

OK serious question for you 10/22 how many of your dogs have you ever taken digging. Or how many of the dogs in your kennels (ie owned by you) have been dug or even bolted quarry.

this is off topic again...but i thing i can never get around is people keeping plummers for years and breeding and not using a stud dog or using a bitch that hasnt worked fox.

there a masses of breeders out there using nice looking stud dog but a lot are just pet or farm dogs.

wasnt the plummer bred to graft?

it get enough stick from terrier folk with out using non working stud dogs?

im guilty of a lot of things regarding slagging plummers but i have only bred 3 litters and both sire and dam worked fox .

yes i also didnt go far for the stud dogs but i used the best available, work wise and on two occasions looks and type wise also

Hey BBB,

What you breed Plummers?

10/22 please stop with the unity bit, folks from all sides will use what info they can to score points off each other and it's never going to happen.Your all as bad as each other mate.BBB me and you have had words before mate, but this time i agree with you, breeders should be breeding worker to worker as well as trying to sort out some faults with in the breed, shame it didn't work out for you mate.To many being bred with no thought of work, how this breed is ever expected to go forward as a serious breed with terrier folk i don't know.Seems to many indians want to be a chief in the plummer scene, sad to say my hearts dropping out of this breed as well mate.

even on breed sites i was slated because i want to breed worker to worker.

the big names in the game always spout that im wrong, type and looks always come first in there view.

they would rather use a nice looking non worker that may have been bred from workers yrs ago then use a bog standard but working plummer.

One breeder once said on a breed site they would give one to paris Hilton just to promote the breed!!!!!!!!

Still there are a few worker to workers being bred not enough mind but a few so maybe a little hope tucked away somewhere.

BBB,

Worker to Worker is the mantra. If the plummer terrier is to gain acceptance as a working terrier then you have to able to dig with them consistently. In the Off season then you have the added benefit of having good mooch dogs which you can knock a bit of sport out off. Any Club looking to promote the breed should make it there top piority to accredit working studs or else the breed will be a toy breed. Was that Brian's wish in the long run?
