whippeter69 88
Im a bit curious about getting my SGC/FAC. Im 14 and have not got a criminal record, iv got 2 referees to sign my photos and filled out my FAC REFEREE forms and i am applying for a 22lr for PEST CONTROL. My step mum has got a 20 bore which she is going to give to me(if i get me SGC/FAC when im 15(MAY)). I have got 5 different farms/ers to sign permission slips and each farm has over 200 acers. I have enclosed this in my evolope to send with the SGC/FAC application except the REFEREE forms. Do you think that i have a good chance of getting my SGC/FAC? Quote Link to post

whippeter69 88
I have got the local deer keeper to show me and help me with the shooting. He has got a 22lr and he said he would help me out. Quote Link to post
Duck Down 98 0
i hope you get the licences you want but the police have tightened up on issueing especially firearms! Good luck! Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Good Job you waited until 15 or using the Shotgun alone would have been an issue. I can't see the problem with you getting an FAC or SGC going by what you have put above. Depends on Dyfed-Powys Police, but I can't see a problem. One thing I would say, do you have someone standing by ready to give you a .22LR? As you are 14(will be 15) you can only be given a Rifle or Shotgun and not purchase them. So, you have the Shotgun bit sorted, your Stepmother has hers, but you will need to find someone willing to GIVE you THEIR .22LR. They will then have to reapply for a "One to one" variation on their Firearms Cert to gain another .22LR. SS Quote Link to post
whippeter69 88
I have know Bobby Charlton (FEO) all my life and he knows i am experienced with guns and i know him very well, will this help. SS yes i was thinking about that, iv got a shotgun at the ready but if i can get some one to GIVE me their 22lr, it would be a better reason for applying for one. Quote Link to post

Knowing someone is always going to help..but the law is the law, an FEO in not going to bend it... I have got the local deer keeper to show me and help me with the shooting. He has got a 22lr and he said he would help me out. A deer keeper with a .22LR Sounds like he needs someone to help him!!! If you can show reason and need and all the other legal/medical bits come together it should be ok...but I'm a little surprised..if you know the FEO so well why don't you just ask him!! Yes thats true. The deer keeper has the 22lr for rabbits but has a larger caliber for deer just to say incase you were wondering. Iv decided to not apply for me FAC iv just applied for my SGC, i think that i should have a shotgun for a while first maybe be asking for a FAC at 14 is a bit much, il wait until i am 18 till i will apply for that. D**K H**D :glare: anyway i am the same age as you and if you think your pushing your luck asking for a FAC heres a few things... . you cant push your luck with the police, your asking for a pefectly resonable thing and they wont be able to say no. It might be worth ringing the basc - if you not a member i fully recommed you do so. No really they are so helpful when i rang them they told me everything straight and how it was, you wont get mixed answers and opinions like on here, they tell you what it says in the law. . you can go out unsupervised and be gifted a rifle or ammuntion. seriously ring the basc they are very helpful ive been having some trouble trying to convince my FEO that the law is i can be gifted a rifle and go out unsupervised. He was having none of it so i rang up the BASC and they put him right and now its sorted. Just waiting for it to come through the door Edited November 7, 2008 by the infamous nun Quote Link to post

Mr_Logic 5
I think I'd turned 15 by the time they granted my first ticket, I was out shooting the rimfire unsupervised for ages, nobody cared. We had a wail of a time with my old 10/22, hipshooting at an abandoned milk float on the land. Great fun! By the time we moved away that thing looked like chicken wire with tyres on it!
