Yokel Matt 918
Popped out with a friend who doesn't shoot much last night to have a crack at some rabbits. He has the run of the house he rents a room in and the estate it lays on and was keen to have a go. We set off around 8pm which was still probably a little early despite being nice and dark with a good breeze. It was my first time shooting on this estate so he led the way to show me where all the 'good spots' were generally taking the path that led through rustling leaves or snapping twigs Many of the more seasoned lampers on here would have been in fits of rage with the noise my companion was making, the 'ziping' of the lamp cord on his puffer jacket, the clumping of his loose wellies & the jangling of the buckle and the heavy footfalls. I was shooting first and, needless to say, we didn't see an lot except a few very wary and skittish ones at long range and those we did see were almost by accident as the light was on and off and flitting around like a strobe in a club The last thing i wanted to do was make my mate awkward (and put him off future outings ) by telling him how crap his lamp skills were as he obviously hadn't done it before but was, for some reason, too shy to say so i had to subtley make a few suggestions . I don't hold myself out to be expert by any means but it all started to come together and, although the bag didn't turn out to be the biggest, at least there'll be a next time. All the best. clivej 0
Hi Ex. Hunter How do you find the Cluson shootalite that's in the photo to use for lamping. I have got one but have yet to realy used it in the field so to speak. I only got word Monday that my 223 license is approved and gone off for issue. My son uses a Lihgtforce 170 and when I look at the shootalite output against it, it just doesn't put out half as much light. I got a 75 watt bulb for the shootalite so that might brighten things up a lot. And good shooting on those rabbits Edited November 7, 2008 by clivej Quote Link to post

Didn't know you could get a 75 watt bulb so may have to look into that one... i'll kane the battery though i expect. Rioulike... I feel your pain Quote Link to post
