BULL 96
Wouldnt say i know anymore than the next man.......but im going to stick my neck out with this one and say i think joes going to get knocked out !...i hope im wrong as id love to see him leave the game with an unbeaten record.I just think that the boxing game has a strange way of showing the truth and the truth is calzaghe should have fought both jones and hopkins in their prime...but managed to evade them both and has got them both right at the end of their careers.... Style wise i think depending how much jones has left he could make joe look a fool he is a pinpoint puncher with decent power and has the ability and brain to slip joes straight punches and the accuracy and power to land his own......i hope im wrong, everyone i speak to thinks im a loon for saying it but im going to go for a jones win by stoppage. i think jones would have definatley put up a different fight ten years ago ,but i dont think joe dodged any off them he couldnt get matched back then with either off them as the u.s.a public did not have a clue who joe was and it was all about the money. the_stig 6,614
Carl Froch great boxer to watch good KO percentage have watched him box for years. Also used to like a couple of brothers from your way the Booths ! Two cracking lads think one had a bit of a beating though out of the ring, set his career back a bit.jason and nicky - nicky was a junkie ended up inside sorted himself out and back in the ring now .. one of em did get his head bust open in a street brawl .. both good fighters should have gone onto better things .. actually wasn't in a street brawl it was when he was putting out flyers up hurtsyard in the centre of nottm i`ll ask jason the story when i see him .. you might be right kash either way one of em got his head bust in .. gnasher16 30,191
I think he would of beat them both whenever they had fought as at 36 id say Joe is most probably 4-6 years past his prime, i also dont believe he evaded them but it was the other way around they kept away from Joe as they knew his CLASS. ffs he beat Eubank who was very good and as TOUGH as any fighter to get in the ring, Joe has also shown his Heart by getting up against two very good fighters and give them a lesson they will never forget. You may be right mate he may well have beaten them in their prime, personally i dont think he could have beaten a prime jones but thats just opinions...no way is calzaghe 4-6 years past his prime,he is stronger, fitter and busier than he has ever been before, his punch stats ( 1000 odd ) per fight also prove this.As for eubank being as good and tough as any fighter who ever got in the ring, believe me mate im a big eubank fan,but there can be no denying he was finished when calzaghe met him,he had 2 fights in the next year after the calzaghe fight lost them both to an average carl thompson and packed the game in ! As for evading the top yanks of the time....why then is joe happy to go over into their back yards and fight them now but he wouldnt then, instead insisting they went to wales.....maybe its coincidence that the biggest names in the sport calzaghe has fought were all pretty much finished by the time he fought them.....dont get me wrong im as much of a fan of his as anyone i just feel the public and genuine boxing people have been cheated out of seeing the best fighting the best which is what the sport should be about. gaz 284
When i say Roy Jones Junior would have wiped the floor with Joe back when they should have fought i didnt mean any disrespect to Joe C...as Roy Jones Junior would have and did wipe the floor with many fighters in the calibre of Joe C back then when he was as slicker a fighter that has ever graced the ring and Joe not being the fighter he went on to grow into as imo he grew into a better fighter in his later fights.....but as gnasher said its only about opinions and this is mine. I ask you to cast your mind back to Hatton v's Floyd Mayweather not long ago there,a lot of folk thought Hatton would have blew Mayweather out of the ring....but not me,i hoped he would but i knew he wouldnt because there is some very good fighters out there but occasionally along comes a very classy fighter and like Mayweather Roy Jones Junior was every inch as classy or prob even better...he was that good at super middle weight !!!
