gaz 284
Joe deserves all the riches and plaudits that being a world class fighter brings, his record speaks for itself.....but the only niggling doubt i will always have with him is why did he wait until Hopkins and Roy Jones Junior were well past their best,he deserved his win tonight but why wait until these guys are past it. IMO Roy Jones would have wiped the floor with Joe back when these two should have fought,so for me that is always going to be the only niggling doubt i will have with Joe being one of the all-time greats, but hats off to him all the same for a cracking career in the game
kristian 9
JOE is a legend well done to the welsh boy
undisputed 1,664
Jones would win.Calzaghe gave him a boxing lesson, and beat him in every department. When will people take him seriously?? As for the knock down,it was a forearm smash, when i was boxing that was illegal.Well done Joe yeah i look back to when holmes give ali a boxing lesson/mauling and think thank Fook holmes wasnt british or even welsh we probably get his name in the "new testament" The fight your referring to in relation to Holmes and Ali was a different kettle of fish. Ali was wayyyyyyy past his best and was already suffering from the effects of too many fights and had the onset of brain damage caused by these fights. That was the saddest sight in boxing seeing a great man like Ali wanting to continue but his cornermen knew he had gone and threw in the towel. Holmes started life as Ali's sparring partner and would never have lived with an Ali at the top of his game....very few could!
clay man 0
I WAS WRONG I WILL TAKE MY HAT OF TO HIM I DID NOT THINK HE WOULD LAST WELL DONE TO ALL :notworthy: :notworthy:
Limb 31
Joe wanted to fight Hopkins and Jones years ago, but he never had the pulling power for them to make enough money to risk loosing, to what they knew was a dangerous fighter. Well done Joe you've proved yourself yet again.
Guest blackntan
well done big Joe hope he retires but don't think he will, he will go for rocky Marciano's record
gnasher16 30,025
The boy done good and fought the perfect fight tactically....joe has a way to win fights and its very effective if not particularly stylish and can simply overwhelm opponents with unbelievable fitness and workrate.... The niggling thing for me is the same as the fella above said....would this have been the same outcome had calzaghe fought both hopkins and jones when they was in anything near their prime....i wouldnt say calzaghe is too far past his peak even at 36,his punch stats prove this...but jones was a shell of the fighter he once was and this fight doesnt prove joe is the best of his generation.....its a real shame because unlike the fella above i would give joe a 50/50 chance against a peak jones thats how good i think he is......what leaves a sour taste in my mouth is how we will now hear joe talking that he went over to america and beat 2 all time greats....what he misses out is why he wouldnt do that when they was both in their prime.....but thats the way the sport is today i guess. RatSnatcher 0
From what I can remember there was no way that Jones was going to fight under the Don King banner often, he hated what the guy stood for all though he had to make money. Definately a shame for joe, and its time for Jones to retire

kash 1
Carl Froch great boxer to watch good KO percentage have watched him box for years. Also used to like a couple of brothers from your way the Booths ! Two cracking lads think one had a bit of a beating though out of the ring, set his career back a bit.jason and nicky - nicky was a junkie ended up inside sorted himself out and back in the ring now .. one of em did get his head bust open in a street brawl .. both good fighters should have gone onto better things .. actually wasn't in a street brawl it was when he was putting out flyers up hurtsyard in the centre of nottm
