live in the borders now, but shot and chased wildfowl all over!,

loved all the big guns, but on one trip, all i had was the 8, and the

lads decided to shoot rabbits till the next tide,? bolted rabbits with

an 8 is quite an experience ! later moved on to 3'' mag ,hammer

cheers :D:D

Bring's back some very happy memories.

Unfortunately no pic's of the guns only some very old ones taken at a distance with me holding them on the foreshore.

Started off with a single barrel J.W. Tolley 4 bore purchased from a gentleman just outside Ludlow, if I remember correctley it cost £1,400 in 1989, expensive but worth every penny. Following that a double barrel 10 bore Tolley from the Oxford Gun Co. (I think) £750, brown damascus the same colour as the 4b the only real problem was chambers of 2.7/8" although both guns where nitro proofed. Following that a double barrel 12 bore Tolley purchased in Ireland from a farmer where we did some fishing about 1993, £200 but in poor condition, perect damascus bores, refurb by a local gunsmith and rebrowned.

Brass cases for the 4b and 10b made by Myers at Garstang, not cheap but his workmanship is faultless.

Marital circumstances, the cost of travel, the cost of non-toxic shot etc., etc., resulted in all 3 going to auction at Holt's and sold for £4,350 less their commission .. a very sad day but the money was more important. I believe the gun's ended up in America .. even sadder.
