bignoel 14
out of interest what sort of price do lab stud charge these day's Quote Link to post
butcherboy 68
To get any interest from the gundog world you will need to have had your Lab Hip & Elbow scored at the very least. Most stud dogs are now DNA profiled as well. There are a lot of top FTCH stud dogs out there but if people see you out working your dog you might get some interest. You will need to know the pedigree first though. Good Luck Quote Link to post
druimmuir 1
Nice looking dog and good luck with the advert, has Jake been hip scored and eye tested ? these are the minimum requirements expected by most bitch owners when looking for a stud dog, then there are dna tests such as optigen and cnm too. Some more for you to think about. Nicola Quote Link to post

Do you really Farlap? Out of curiosity would you hip score a 3 yr old Lab which has worked say 2 times or three times week ?Personally I think its a bit late to hip score but eye test yes.. As my vet says if a dog has good hips it will have good hips for life, and the same score roughly at 3 years as it would have had at 12mths, ie they stay sound. I personally if looking to mate a lab bitch would not use a dog unless it had hips scored and eyes tested, and I would not expect anyone to use my dog unless those minimum tests had been carried out. Billy steel junior had a such dog known as broadlaw jake. I personally would look for 15 & less for a total score. Quote Link to post

labsnlurchers 39
I've been in touch with the kennel club and they have advised me to get a 5 generation enhanced pedigree because he has 24 FTCH in his pedigree and some very good names! i was trying to write them all down but the lady was talking too fast so i managed to get a few of them; Drakeshead Topaz Swinbrook Gunstock Greenwood Whan i get the pedigree through the post ill be able to get the others up on here. We are taking him to crufts this year into the gamekeepers class so im hoping he will do well there and maybe get some stud intrest as i would love a pup back in the future to keep his line in my kennel.
