i was out friday saturday and sunday lamping, had 8 bunnies friday, 9 saturday and 15 sunday, gutted and skinned them all kept some from friday night for saturdays night dogs food, saturdays rabbits i kept enough for sunday dogs food and sundays rabbits were for yesterday dogs food i had to give the rest away to my mate/mates for dog food or the pan none of them go to waste i also kept 3 for the ferrets bare in mind i have 5 dogs, 2 lurchers and 3 terriers so i had a fair few, soon as i empty the freezer this week itll be back ready to fill :) myself i think its pointless killing them and leaving them you can atleast bring them home for someone else weather your doing pest control or not, i know alot of keepers do it and throw them in the 'death pit'

There was a chap who "HAD" the shooting rights on 2 large airfields this way. He was kitted out, land rover, guns lamp, looked the part :D. He would shoot 20 30 40 rabbits in one session and leave them where shot.

Complaints would flood in the next morning from people coming into work about the dead rabbits lying everywhere!

He refused to take them as he stated "f**k THAT ITS SPORT THE BOSS CAN HOOVER THEM UP"

Anyway, i now have the rights there and that sad little "RAMBO" was kicked off. The site owner had warned him several times to dispose the rabbits but "RAMBO" kept refusing. So now i give him a little :bye: and big smile whenever i see him!

Bad sportsmanship, giving all of us a bad name!

PICK YOUR QUARRY UP!!!!!!

i have many farms,a lot are sheep farms.

the farmers on most of these want all rabbits shot and killed, this includes the little fur balls that most leave for next season.

we have to look at it as pest control, nothing else.

we can have a good nights sport with well over 50 rabbits a night, sometimes a lot more depending on if we stay until light.

i have a few for the pan/ferrets,and whats left goes to the game dealer and pays for diesel/ammo etc.

pest control and sport thats almost free....

pick em up and get rid, seconds to gut and put in the motor.

we do the rabbiting on a fairly large piece of ground and its pest control.

tennent farmer complains = tells owner = tells keepers = they tell me and we get to work

we have had nights of just shy of 300 and yes a lot of those get picked but it does take time and disturb the field - if there is no decent price from the game dealer on rabbits that week then fewwer get picked and visa versa.

yes it seems a waste but i am there to do a job, it needs doing, and i want to get it done efficiently and without causing too much fuss - therefore i am quite happy to leave the deep in hedges/woods/places that are difficult ands the ones that got mangled to get to if it saves time.

just the way we work here, would be nice if everything was eaten and came to be of full use to society but there isn't a huge demand for rabbit at the moment and so mabey 30-40% gets left. its a shame but this is vermin. if the demand increased the price would go up and more would get picked.

just my thoughts though,

On-point

ok i understand it your job to do that, but this guy just does it for the hell of it, imo thats not sport or vermin control ,

imo no respect for the quarry, killing it just for luaghs to me not good.
