bryans ortovox box and coller set

Recommended Posts

i used this set for the first time this weekend...... BRILLIENT is not the word for it!!! firstly the transmitter is half the size of the b+f which is a majour factor for me as i mainly dig tight earths fox run into and i think the b+f is a bit too big.... the ortovox is a bit more accurate aswell.... my old bitch rarly barks so sounding her is difficult but the box brought us bang on top of her.... as an experiment me and my buddy who has a b+f tested the two sets for accurracy ... the ortovox changed the reading as soon as i moved the transmitter but the b+f still gave out the same reading even tho i had moved the transmitter about half a foot either way!!!!! over all i give the ortovox a big thumbs up :clapper:

iv an ortodox collar an pulse box works fine for me iv dug with it about 15 times so far no probs yet

when you are above the dog at wat ever depth the word (MARK) comes up on the screen.

i was out the day an marked the dog at ten foot witch was 5.0 on the box an it wasn jumping to dif readings

i think if its doing tat the dog is still traveling the hole.

an its the same for the peips box if the readings ar all over the place the dog is moveing.

great set up i think an the collar strong stuff dos is top notch

Macaster the "mark" function is for if 2 or more skiers are buried, you'd locate one, put a flag over it and press mark then the box will ignore that signal and look for others,

yes movement will drive any box nuts.

here's a 7 foot one with an ortovox transmitter and barryvox box like yours, dead on the dog(you need a good dog too, with any system!)

well myself and twotone were out on a little dig/ experiment i have the b& f he had the orthovox system and all i have to say the othovox is a lot quicker than the b & f and the meter reading using a b & f collar were about double the b & f ie b & f said .9 the othovox said 1.5 , with the othovox collar they may be spot on i dont know as i havent used the collar but i was inpressed with the box it was spot on and quick which is my biggest gripe with the b & f

if your using the ortovox collar it is calerberated to 40 mtrs ,same as the ortovox d3 ,if your using b&f collar and box they calerberated to 60 mtrs if you keep the calibres the same on both box and collar you will get an exact reading ,if you mix and match the sets your calibres will be different on both and will give u a diffrent reading ,the ortovox collar at 1 mtr will read 1.7 on the bellman ,the ortovox collar with a dts tracker at 1 mtr will read 2.00 on the tracker the tracker is caliberated to 50 mtrs .hope this helps try not to buy a reciever with only 2 anteni in it as it will not pin point so well i.e patrolar ,tracker ,the new pieps freeride only has 1 anteni so it will be shite ,the b&f (pieps) and the ortovox d3 and the pulse are the ones you want these all have 3 anteni and can all be updated ,so i think any of the others are not worth touching ,
