tom1cameron 1
Ladies and Gentleman I have a trip planned to the Eden Estuary on the 14th Nov (11 days to go and counting). I have never visited it before so I am planning to arrive around lunchtime on the 14th to check things out. High tide at 3pm...ish Have been told that there may be a flighting opportunity of Greylags from the papermill, but not sure where to layout to catch these. Ideally we want to target duck so ideas for that would be helpful. There is a full moon, so presuming the conditions are right, we are going to hunt that too. Any thoughts? Then the following morning? All weather dependent I am sure, but happy to move around and focus out on the sands/mud or stick to shore/burns. Safety/No-go areas information will be priceless. Best wishes Tom PS I will defo bring this up nearer the time once there is a wind forecast but if anyone has any general advice about how to approach the Eden then I can start to plan. selvey 2
i have shot the Eden on a number of occasions and it is fantastic i havent had too many geese there but the duck shooting is amazing but on a low tide when you can get down to the river they flight the river constantly up and down alot of wigeon and teal watch out for the non target species there are heaps of them especially mergansers also watch out for brent and barnacles they also are around. As for geese the pinks are on the other side of the eden at the moment on tentsmuir thats across the RAF leuchars base. The greylags always head for the papermill bay as this is a no shooting zone watch out for this there is a piggery just past the bay and a big point that sticks out as far as im aware thats where the shhoting starts and that point can be great for the greys on a strong wind but they are clued up there so we really need the weather but the ducks are great you will love it.There is a ranger there that checks all your wildfowling permits this is a permit only zone he is very handy for information you will definately see him hes a great guy he will tell you the hot spots i hope this helps you if you need any other info let me know as i know this area very well. Thanks for this, it should be getting darl on low tide so we will aim for the river, any clues on where. Bird ID my speciality! We may stick on that point for the moon flight as the water will be high! Thanks again, great advice

And is the mussell bed area safe, and decoys useable?
selvey 2
Yeah the mussell beds are very safe as long as you know the tides make sure that the tides are out going but dont worry about that as its very safe there its at its best when its just a river when the tide comes in the river just floods and gets bigger and wider and further range too shoot.
