higgins 75
interesting but why block the lower half,i'm sure the dogs would like to see out, atb, Higgins. Quote Link to post
Garypco 3
interesting but why block the lower half,i'm sure the dogs would like to see out, atb,Higgins. all kennels should really have an open front it gives em something to do catch a few rays in the summer plus all pups ets shud realy be socialised id find those a little dark as well... guess theyde be easy enough to open a mesh door or two for em nice job otherwise..... labsnlurchers 39
they look good, as long as the dog doesnt spend all day in the kennel and has stuff to keep it occupied then it doesnt matter so much about seeing out. im just in the process of building my new ones, they are all mesh insid an out building, my dogs are loose all day and are only kenneled up at night. mickb 1
the dogs can see out fine anyway, and we only put 1 course of blocks down to lift to wood off the floor so that they can be swilled out and not risk rotting the wood any quicker. Quote Link to post
Guest jordy p
would have to agree with he guys the dogs should reli have a bit light let in from the front jp Quote Link to post
mickb 1
the first 2 pen,s are lurcher and the end one is the terrier pen there is plenty of light and there is electric,s fitted with a light in each pen for on a night Quote Link to post
higgins 75
mickb not having a pop just like my dogs to be able to see what's going outside their kennel,my next kennel is facing towards the house, that way i can see them and they have a view outside their kennel,i'm sure it keeps the dogs interesteted in what's going on and you can have a quick visual glance from the house if the dogs are okay, atb, Higgins. mickb 1
i understand what you are saying its just banter in side each kennel are there sleeping box,s witch are razed up off the floor both lurchers can easly jump up on to there box and have a full view off each other they can see what is going off out side and i can see them and they can see me the terriers as you can see in the pictures have there meshed window at the bottom of there door cheers mickb Quote Link to post
Guest dee mac
i think that dogs should have an open area were they can see whats going on and have an open run were they can feel the sun on there back dogs that are couped up tend to be over excitable and not as healthy looking as a dog that has access to the outside Quote Link to post

Paul in North Lincs 15
nice job mate.........................it looks like you used 8x4 shets of 'sterling board' which is basicaly wood chipiings and glue presses into a board......make sure theres plenty of overhang on that roof, and maybe a gutter system..... If that board gets wet mate...you'll be able to push your finger through it.............. Used it myself in a pigeon loft flight.......crap.........for an extra few quid, marine ply is more durable..but hey.... hindsightes a wonderfull thing. Quote Link to post
Guest Chip
at least you have the dogs in mind.i went down the same road once spent 3 to 400 notes on timber and chip board,i pulled them down within two years, and replaced with steal runs. was the worst money i spent with the timber. i bet you could have got some steal jobs for that money. zap 4
well as said before could do with the front opened out far better for letting dogs see out and for letting air circulate ,in the summer it will be like a oven and winter the damp will hold Quote Link to post
Running 7
good set up i would agree though a open panel at the front to see out would benifit the dogs Quote Link to post
