old dog 210
That's him, GR. I didn't in the end, they were gettin on a year old and he'd not had time to bring them on as much as he wanted. I had visions of slipping one and never seeing it again! Got a young wheaten x now. You could see they had the makings of good dogs. The one he kept back looked a hell of an animal. Was the sire of the pups a bull x ? yes mate there is bull in him but very little, to look at him he's like a stocky greyhound i'll get a photo for you.what part of the country do you hunt Quote Link to post
spindolero 1,111
i thought there may be a bit of bull there, they had very strong heads. I should imagine the pointer in them won't hurt their ability to hunt. i am back in S Pembs area. Just knock about with the dogs where & when we can. Quote Link to post

old dog 210
cracking thread old dog fair play.... some great comments and a good read... good pics anall all the best with the pack jo thank's jo, gareth bred them to hunt in the day he not one for the lamp,he keep 3 back for himself with the intension of keeping 1, the dog he kept back was out with us last year he turned out a tidy dog doing his job,but he will say with that first cross they have losted a bit of pace (due to the pointer)but as i said earlier he wanted them to hunt up in the daytime, Quote Link to post

old dog 210
Nice looking Russel Old Dog, as you were talking about Lurchers, do you run any with your pack or just pure hounds. All the best Dave. no dave i don't allow any lurchers to run loose when the hounds are hunting, the lurchers are used like a gun, but it's more exciting to see, going back a long time ago when we first started none the wiser the boy's would have the lurchers loose but once the hounds started calling the lurchers would run down and get in front and take the hounds off the scent losing the fox, this happened a few times so a meeting was called and that was the end of that.the only other dog that would run loose is my russel, he will stay with me he also work's with the hunting horn and he's a good boy when it comes to earth work(you know what i mean) there's other russel's with me but i've got to watch where they go,but on saying that they are only used on a wednesday i've got a regular terrierman which does the weekends, has done for the last 16 years.
