Got home from work to find my copy waiting for me..........yes, I do work sometimes!!

Just finished and so here is my take on it..........

First of all the boring stuff..........the quality of the materials used in producing this book are outstanding, heavy good quality paper with a good hard cover.......something that will still be on the bookshelf in years to come.

I started to read the book and knew that it would a right to the end job..........I personnaly loved the accounts of the young pup with all its silly quirks.....the training, the frustrations, the breakthroughs.

I sincerly hope that many will take the time to read and digest these seemingly unimportant parts of the book, because IMHO these are THE MOST important parts.

I love anything to do with training and dog behaviour in general and feel that it is often overlooked by lots of lads and other writers have only copied what can be learned a pet traing class........that I am afraid is just not enough.......well this book is a little different.

Dont get me wrong, its not a how to type book, but if you read the text carefully you will hopefully understand that there is a little more to a lurcher than feeding it untill its old enough to look down a beam of lite........and I think the writer shows that nicely without preaching.

The accounts of this dogs hunting career and the tackle that it ,along with other good dogs, managed to take is truly jaw dropping.........there has simply never been a lurcher book yet written that has so many high quality colour pictures of dogs hunting deer.

The accounts of Darcy and his friends hunting trips are real and well told.........it will have lads who have been there nodding and smiling, it will inspire those who wish to take there own lurcherwork to the next level.

These lads didnt make these catches by accident........they put in the hours, did the miles and paid the fuel and its all down in black and white for all to see........a brilliant read.

I dont want to give too much away and spoil it for anyone........but the ending had a lump in my throat.

I have seen some subtle sideswipes at the writer lately.........all I can say is, with this book J Darcy has truly raised the bar........clear it if you can lads ;)

I have to give it to you Darcy, you are a writer at the top of your game and you have written about a dog who was also at the top of his game...........awsome!!

It is some of Darcy's best writing to date in my opinion.

A great tribute from a bloke who got out and tested his dog, with conventional and some not quite so conventional quarry.

You can tell he thought the world of the dog and this is a fitting tribute to him.

I can't wait to get my copy through and see the pics.

I look forward to getting my copy WILF, like yourself the training, behavioural and managment i find personally just(if not more) interesting as the hunting and pictures of dead game. I have enjoyed the style of previous books, hope the proof reader did a decent job this time.... :D
