From the Earl of Home, oh yeah, show shooting off as one for the rich why don't you! Idiots! I wont be sending them anything, I pay for it solely for my Wildfowling, I'm insured with others. Foxgun Tom 75
If they stopped having frequent hospitality sessions at the back of their tents for the toffs at gamefairs, spending massive amounts on non essential promotional litrature, giving vastly inflated salaries to a surplus of employees, they would'nt have too ask ordinary members for 40 quid, where does all their money end up, if they have to go cap in hand and beg?? If SAC's ever tried pulled a stunt like this I'd be kicking up feck!!!! Tom

comanche 3,038
Yep,mine came this week. Proffessional begging letters are a sad fact of life nowdays. All the charities do it . Subtle, old- fashioned terms like "Donations welcome",have been replaced by the aggressive,unabashed,hard-sell methods more familiar in the greedy world of big business. Watch Tv programmes like The Apprentice and you will see that what we see as ugly people involved in ugly promotional techniques consider themselves to be the acceptable face of success and their methods justified by results. I got all uppitty with BASC years ago when they started flogging raffle tickets at what to me seemed an unasailable price for someone like meself who was balencing single-parenthood with being a Gamekeeping grunt and at the same time trying to better meself at night courses etc. Not complaining -best years of my life but I thought BASC were taking the mick with their prices and I told em so. Credit due ,they replied to my letter and we agreed to disagree. BASC are a fine organisation and once again I'll just pay my dues and let those who can afford it buy the strip lights and coffee machine for the new building. S'not worth worrying about and certainly not worth causing divisions in our ranks about.
dicka 1
stopped being a member of basc a few years ago when they decided to just take my renewal money without evening knowing if i still wished to be a member i didnt & went to the ngo.
bill88 6
Exactly the reason why im no longer a member of BASC or CA.Yearly membershp fee isnt cheap, and then they have the cheek to bombard you with begging letters and/or try to get you to buy raffle tickets.Amazingly when i received my newsletters from the CA (who represent all country sports supposedly) there were never pictures or stories of lurchers and terriers, just the usual tweed's and toff's fly fishing and shooting. NO CHANCE!! We need to stand together and we need a strong voice but there is serious, and mick take!!!
