15 weeks for me.

10 weeks is way to early for me, hell of a chance she will imprint slightly imo and you really dont want a screamer, unless you dont have neighbours of course. I had a screamer and i had to make a cup of tea for frontshift in the dark! the second the light in the kitchen came on she would start- not good mate!

Im not trying to have a argument but everyone I know who picks up a P/R Accipiter picks them up early, males about 9 weeks and females about 10- 10 1/2 weeks so I cant see much difference what bird it is but then again we could be getting on to another subject :hmm: C/R vs P/R

Gosses at ten weeks mate, yes, but a Harris, no way.

If he picks it up at 10 weeks then i would put money that it will be a screamer, i had one like i said, at 13weeks i think and it was a massive pain.

15 weeks minimum for me, but we are all different.

Plus, he will have problems tethering it down. If he gets it mid december and, lets say it takes him 4 weeks to fly it free( i dont know his history/skills ), it will need to be tethered when the heavy frosts of dec/jan hit. If the lad wants it he will get it and no-one will stop him but a 10 week harris in december has problems written all over it in my book.

i am with trappa on this.

you do not want a screamer  thats a fact.the rest is just my opinion.personly i think by the time you get the harris going and like trappa i dont know your experience, you have got some very fit and wise stuff to fly at.also a short season for a birds first season.

thanks daz

Agree with spar on that, its best to get them going, but i wouldnt think the breeder will give you her at 10 weeks mate to be honest. No breeder worth his salt will let a HH go to a newbie at 10 weeks, she WILL imprint and you will want rid within a year.
