Anytime I put out a cage or trap, best I can, I try to hide it from prying eyes. Usually doesn't matter a bit to the animal I'm after but people do more damage than any other animal ;) Small items like fenns are at greater risk of theft and easier for the mindless vandal to chuck in the nearest river or where ever, never to be found again.

i went to check my fenn traps yesterday when i found that my tunnels had been destroyed and my

fenn traps were gone. is there anyway i can catch who stole them . :realmad:

If you check out snaremans article on earth anchors, you'll get an idea how cheap it can be to tether traps against casual theft. Obviously determined folks need a different approach.

Always report things like this to the police (Its criminal damage ,theft etc) The police might just give you a crime number and fob you off but if enough folk reported every little trap theft the unsolved crime statistics start to look a bit embarrising and it might at least set a rural bobby thinking. Often it's the same people doing the damage so one good "nick" of someone caught in the act can clear -up several unsolved incidents which is good for the Gavver's record and the trapper's sense of justice.

Don't know where you are based but round here a bunch of the "Usual Suspects" actually give out advice on how to find and destroy tunnel traps .They go undercover and attend pest control and Gamekeeping courses hoping to gather more information on how to disrupt and discredit field-sports and legitimate pest control. ....So everytime someone kicks over your tunnel or pinches a trap report it. Be a pain in the ar*e down at your local police-station.
