i have flown harrises for about 7 years i recently bought a male having always flown females.the problem i have is that this bird who started flying free 3 weeks ago has started blanking me when free.his flying weight was 620g and was very responsive then he decided just to sit in a tree and completely ignore me so i thought i would drop him to 610g after three sessions of him ignoring me but he is still unresponsive, any ideas?have never had this problem with females.

I had the same trouble about a week or two ago with a female I put it down to the weather. After messing around with her weight and coming well at 2lb 2oz she slowly lost interest so decided to drop her a tad, she was about a week ago 1. 1/2oz under her hunting weight still the same so desided to feed her up and go back to basic's :whistling: she now coming like a train at 2lb 3oz dont be fooled by this just because they seem over-weight they will also do the same under-weight.

thanks for replying, had thought that might be the way to go but their is nothing like reassurance from another falconer.

one of the reason's I done this is because she looked like she wanted to self-hunt as I have plenty of game about it was something I didn't want to happen.

that is my fear too i was out today and flushed a few rabbits and the harris flew them no problem but returning to the fist was

i had same prob a few week ago. she was following well but to get fly back to the glove was a right pain in the arse. she was at 2ib 2oz.dropped her an oz and same thing happened i had to climb up the feckin tree after her and it was proper windy. did a few extra junp ups at home and she's fine now.
