Zerky 133
Just wondered if anyone worked Deerhounds on the lamp? If so could anyone tell me what they are like at jumping, stamina, what they are like on foxes and how easy are they to train? If any one has got any pics of working deerhounds they could put up that would be great. Thanks Quote Link to post
shamus 36
I worked my last one for ten years and i have a year old bitch pup just coming on.Both my dogs are/were from bill dochertys/trevor cooks lines.Shamus,my last dog was lethal on foxes, hated them from an early age. They are very biddable, intelligent sighthounds, and very ,very faithfull. They are slower to start than lurchers though and i would,nt advise rushing them.I think bill docherty has an article on this very subject on here. JollyPoacher 3
I'm just startin on the route to gettnig a deer grey - both breeds have a huge history of breeding for speed and guile, what will adding an aggro dog bring? This is a question not a dig, here grest things from the bull x workers on here and perhaps these men are pioneers, but not ready to turn my back on generations of careful selection just yet. killemall 1
I have just taken in a 1st cross deerhound/greyhound bred by Shanehound.im in the process of getting him fit and ready for serious action.I gave him a run on a hare yesterday morning and for a dog that wasnt fit he gave puss a fine run.I have high hopes for him.I have a night arranged with Shanehound for a few rabbits and looking forward to it.Another night is on the cards with Roan for bigger game.I was more than surprised with his take off speed. The hare reached the forestry after a good hard run with the dog on its arse,as soon as I find my flippin camera I'll stick up a few pics.I know theres a litter of pure breds being reared at the moment, both pareents are the buisness,Ive seen em in action myself.A rare oppertunity for anyone interested in the purest line of workers in this country. Zerky 133
Thanks guys for your input I asked about people putting bull into deerhound as I know the deerhound has a excellent coat and the deerhound crosses I have seen and the one I have will go all night but lack in nose, so I asked to see if any one put bull into them to add nose as most of the bull crosses I have seen have a real good nose and have a lot of courage will quarry that bit back.
