Looking to buy a Scope

Recommended Posts

Looking to buy a Bushnell 4200 Elite 6-25 x 50 mildot , best price I could get in the UK is £495. Had a quote of £430 but they cant supply (Can't say who just now), so had a look at the good old US of A , best price is $606 including postage converted to pounds is £372, which is a very good price.

The thing is after you add the VAT/Tax @ 30% of the initial goods cost the price goes to £479 a saving of £18. Is it worth it?

No one in my local area can come close to the £430 quotation I got for the scope, is it best to just buy for your local dealer, or am I just a very tight Scots git :hmm:

I know that there are dealers and web sites selling Bushnell in the UK that are not official dealers, but they say the warranty is still as per the manufacturer, is this correct?

Anyone had problems with an imported scope and had to send it back? Maybe it's best to buy from your local dealer?

What you will find is if its not bought in the UK, then the UK distributor won't offer you any warranty... thats if it is faulty, you will have to ship it back to the USA which can be more hassle and costly...

Thanks for the explanation. In that regard I guess what seems like a good deal can end up being a major hassle. I am currently having to help a friend in Ireland exchange a Sportdog collar because the company doesn't ship out of the states. They are sending it to me and I will then forward it to Ireland. Since he bought it there I know that someone ships them to Ireland. So far I have been fortunate when buying and selling internationally off ebay. I have received items from nearly a dozen different countries and shipped to a few also.

Just got my new scope Bushnell 4200Elite 6-24x50 mildot :clapper: been pissing about for months trying to get it at the right price. E-mailed the states a number of times but there prices are crap with the fall of the pound to the dollar.

Any way got the best price from Opticware House £429 plus postage, but they could'nt give me a firm delivery date. They e-mailed me and said they had a demo one. What a saving :D so hope this thing shoots as well as it looks.

there very good mate and i dont think you can beet them in there price range. i had one on a hmr then 22/250 and the optics are superb and wait till you get it under the lamp your see how bright they are and perfect for lamping.

the only things i didnt like was the mildots and the short field of view. but you get use to it in no time.

on my hmr with lamp i was knocking the rabbits of right left and centre :D and its only when you go back to a cheaper scope you really see how good the bushnell was. the whitail i had back on after was milky and the 4200 at night even at 200 yards was super clear all round the glass.

as jamie g said...you want be disappointed in it..I had the 4200 6-24x40 mildot on my 223 and loved it..crystal clear out to about 20x zoom then gets a small bit foggy out to max zoom but still very shootable..And the raingaurd feature really works..not just a gimmick..I have it on my 17hmr now as i found a 2nd hand nightforce nxs at the right price and couldnt pass it up...

Nice scope..you`ve done well :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up: :thumbs-up:
