sandymere 8,263
Depends on power etc. Basically you want it close enouth to give warmth but not to cook the pup. Good idea to give room so the pup can move away to a comfortabe temp if it's getting a little warm.
lamper12 30
hi mate i got mine hanging about 3-4 foot off the floor i wouldnt reccomend no less than 3 1/2 off the floor. i got mine on a litter of terriers pups so them or the dam cant reach it.but if yours is a lurcher etc keep it out of reach. and also make sure you hang it if any of the lamp is touching anything it will burn and could end up in a fire. atb,lamper12. k9delboy 138
i keep my heat lamp on ful time with pups but keep it to one side so the bitch can shift them away from the lamp if it becomes too warm. even a 100 watt light bulb takes the chill off the air. i keep lamp about 3 feet away. i also use one of these heaters that when tipped over they cut out as they have a switch underneath. mally 832
yes i know the heaters you mewan have them in the house ,the lamp will be enough its only to keep the chill out i,ve hung it at around 4 foot and more to one side cheers again I have my heat lamp wired up to a roomstat (the type used in the house central heating system) Just make sure you don't put the roomstat right above the heat lamp. Using a roomstat cuts down on the electric bill as it only comes on when the tempreture drops below the temp you've set it at. Just make sure the wires are well out the way.
