Malt 379
Its a stupid comparison. Not a stupid comparison, just using it as a point, seeing as you stated as fact, that 'any' organisation that involves a lot of money compromises animal welfare.

undisputed 1,664
Just so everyone is clear!!! Portugues Bull Fighting: Cavaleiro and bullMain article: Portuguese-style bullfighting Most Portuguese bullfights are held in two phases: the spectacle of the cavaleiro, and the pega. In the cavaleiro, a horseman on a Portuguese Lusitano horse (specially trained for the fights) fights the bull from horseback. The purpose of this fight is to stab three or four bandeirilhas (small javelins) in the back of the bull. The pega.In the second stage, called the pega ("holding"), the forcados, a group of eight men, challenge the bull directly without any protection or weapon of defense. The front man provokes the bull into a charge to perform a pega de cara or pega de caras (face grab). The front man secures the animal's head and is quickly aided by his fellows who surround and secure the animal until he is subdued. [9] The bull is not killed in the ring and, at the end of the corrida, leading oxen are let into the arena and two campinos on foot herd the bull along them back to its pen. The bull is usually killed, away from the audience's sight, by a professional butcher. It can happen that some bulls, after an exceptional performance, are healed, released to pasture until their end days and used for breeding. Thanks Jembo, I thought I was right. I assumed we were discussing Bull fighting as its a Spanish tradition more so than Portuguese. Feck knows what we are discussing now, the clip i put up was of a Lusitano horse, therefore Portuguese. Correct me if I am wrong, but Spanish bull fighting does not contain horses????? Erm! yes it does
micky 3,325
I havent read all the posts but wanted to say Bull fighting is not fighting at all. The Bull loses every time. Its weakened by the horsemen so its head cant lift, all the neck tendons and muscles are severed and its exhausted, then a BIG MAN comes in and stabs it one more time! What a bunch of cowards!! Bring the Bull in wild off the land, leave his horns alone, dont tamper with them to make him unbalances, loose him in the ring with the Matador, MUCH fairer! then I could see the point! The Horse is amazing, I love Lusitanos and Andalusians, they are big but so agile, wonderful. I dont think these men are cowards, i was attacked by a bull once ,i was in a bad way for a few weeks, and off work for over 6 months,i think its a brave man who gets up close to one. chimp 299
Yes I disagree and I have given you proof, can you prove to the contrary? When was the last time you saw a Rodeo Bull killed buy the guy riding it? Be serious, we are talking about killing animals that have no way of escaping, that are injured and hindered BEFORE they begin, not trying to remain on ones back for 10 seconds and away they go!! You are welcome to insult me if it makes you feel better, however I am right in this instance and you have provided me with no evidence to the contary. My "mates" and I will also continue to watch the videos they return with and we will also contunue to be completely dismayed at the corruption involved with what was once a true test of man and beast, and that is now a no win situation for the Bull in Spain. dawn you have given me no proof whatsoever !! i think you will find rodeo bulls and horses die often of broken necks and they have horns shaved unless YOU can prove me wrong. i have shown you pics but they may of been photoshopped sorry you feel i may of insulted you but YOU are going by hear say , i have seen it and believe were well run events . many matadors have been killed , how many fox hunters on horse back have ? the bull fights back and sometimes wins and i will take my hat of to such a fantastic animal , once again i am sorry if insulted you . I agree and Im pleased you are now well. However, tell me, was the Bull run into exhaustion before you encountered it? were its neck muscles severed so badly that its head could not be lifted? Was it suffering from horn shaving or extensive blood loss due to the barbs embedded in it neck? Or was it a Bull, in the field as nature intended? The latter I feel, and in that respect I fully understand your point.

I have showed you links about horn shaving, there was a documentary not so long back about it too, Ill see if I can locate anything about it. The Bull NEVER wins in Spain, even if he kills the Matador, the next one kills him, no win, not fair, no sport. Rodeo Bulls are NOT bred to be killed, they are not purposely injured and compromised just to ensure the success of the person involved with fighting it. once again i am sorry if insulted you Apology accepted. Im off to Ikes now, much more dangerous than a Bull fight!!
Meerihunter 7
You are right it is not everyones cup of tea, however it is the Iberian culture. I am more interested in the horses and the movement rather than the killing of the bull. Jembo surely if its the horses you are interested in there are 101 other horse disciplines you could watch apart from that horrendous sport?
