update from one out of my litter

Recommended Posts

my look on it is that cross would quit before a bull x on avarage , each dog will be diffrent but u would increase the odds of jackers adding lab into the mix have never worked a x of that type so im not in a good positin to comment , if its brains ye want ye wont go far wrong with adding collie into the mix also i think the bull xs are fine the way thy are...

cracking pup

yeah, collie would add brains but you would be sacrificing some of the size/strength, lab you add brains but dont greatly alter the size/strength of the 1st x. i would not have used any old lab, used my tried and tested.

i agree, i have 3 1st x bull grey and there isnt anything wrong with them, its just something i wanted to try.

cheers mate, she is a cracker

this is a joke labs and Dalmations f**k off messing girls there is enough tubes in the lurcher gean pool already

Don't be so rude, we have as much right to be here as you, i have taken over my hubbies account because he was sick of the bitching and sarcy comments at a time when working dog men should be standing together, however i am a woman and so am extremely experienced in the bitchy and sarcy comments so go ahead do your worst.

 most lads who do abit will tell you that one of the main factors in a good lurcher is that it has to be right in the head...... labs, and dalmations although have some factors are not right in the head enough to be of any use in a good lurcher where someone is looking for a good standard. if you trully belive they are you havent tested enough dogs to there limits...... and lets face it, if your not breeding from the best, you might aswell not bother if your looking for a true working dog.

how do you mean mate? not havin a go just wondered what you mean by lab not right in the head?

My Lab would take fox if the opportunity presented its self, personally I think they would make good find and kill dogs, not many bullX's have the nose or drive to track quarry like labs do.

As for Dalmations they were originally boarhounds from India, so maybe they wouldn't as bad as some would believe. :secret:

lab x dogs are used for pig hunting aswell, they are hard as feck when it comes to confrontation of quarry. the following is a quote from an experienced pig hunter

"pitt lab mix is the best breed i've ever seen work a boar. they are smart agile and can run for years. i've seen them with there guts hagging out and still had the hog caught!"

they use the bull terrier for agression, gundog for nose and and size and greyhound for speed and stamina.

Why, dalmations have good feet and good stamina, dont judge a book by its cover

we must hunt diffrent things so as a dalmation would offer me nothing :bye:

i know what ur saying however a dalmation was originally bred as a coach dog they have amazing stamina and were bred to guard the coaches from highway robbery etc....

as for a lab not making the grade why cross colliexbull or whippetxbull or anyother dog i know the bull x on its own is a good cross however other breeds do and will always be used.....again the bitching has started on this forum already why not take interest in another breed instead of going against something you have not seen tested or worked!!!

Greyhound for stamina?

Gundogs are a popular cross for pigs here but it's generally pointers of some sort.

I think Kiwi runs Boxer x Labs on pigs....if my memory serves me right.

thanks for the info mate, would love to speak to someone who runs lab cross on big quarry, interesting :hmm:

it's actually the lab that brings more to the type of pigdog we where after in that cross a bit more leg and even temprament is [bANNED TEXT] the boxer added, the pure bred lab has been used for years over here, most hunters do a bit of everything and the old lab always made a rough and ready pigdog in the backblocks of nz.it was a very common cross back in the days before pitbulls and other newer breeds.
