camies 1
I went hunting in America a few years ago with a "bowman" and he was shooting woodchuck out to 50 yards (ish).(The woodchuck is a large, heavy bodied rodent ranging in weight from 5 to 10 pounds. The head and body range from 16 to 20 inches length.) I wondered if it legal to use a bow for hunting in the UK? I'm thinking rabbit!

BlueCoyote 0
They are perfectly legal to own, but illegal to use on any wild mammal in the UK. so that means its legal to shoot domestic animals instead? seriously though.... the long bow i thought originated in the UK (one type did anyway) but its outlawed now? what the hell for?? i would have thought the gun would be banned before the bow! it takes a certain amount of skill to hit the target, not to mention strength to use the thing..... i've recently got an interest in it while working on a painting of one... i want to try it out! and i had better do it soon before its illegal over here as well! I remember seeing some wild mountain goats being hunted by bow, think they were using compound bows to hunt them though, that was Canada or America

biffo 0
completely illegal unfortunately, even for rabbits and rats an the like. seems odd to me that its perfectly legal to kill rats and rabbits with a catapult but totally illegal to shoot them with a bow
